
This is Mark my Crested Gecko. Her species is from new Zeland which was thought to be extinction until 1994. Then during the late 2000’s they became very popular in the pet trade. However I got mark from a friend and have kept her since then. The reason her name is Mark is because we thought mark was a boy, than she layed eggs. This clearly ment she was a girl but we didn’t feel like changing the name. She has been my pet so far for the last 5 years and I plan to keep her much longer. In the summer of 2024 she had a medical emergency, and was ill for many weeks. We weren’t sure what to do, so we brought her to the vet. The vet diagnosed her with a bone disease called Metabolic bone disease. Because of all the eggs she was laying, they were taking all of her calcium and the she didn’t have any. Her body also wasn’t processing the calcium it was just collecting in the calcium glands. We then put her on some medicine and she had improved, now a lot more active and eating normally. Now s
